Surveying and Mapping Resources and Links

Here are some great educational and practical resources for surveying and mapping.

• Montana Cadastral Mapping: This is a great place to start to find out information about any piece of property in Montana.
   
• Ravalli County GIS Mapping: Lots of fantastic maps for realtors, surveyors, or anyone else looking for property information in Ravalli County.
   
• Ravalli County Planning Department: If you want to change a property line, subdivide your property, or have questions about the floodplain, these are the guys you need to talk to first.
   
• Ravalli County Environmental Health Department: Most surveys require sanitation approval by the Environmental Health Department.  If you have questions about your septic system or well, talk to these guys.
   
• Ravalli County Clerk and Recorder: Surveys, deeds, easements, and pretty much any other land related documents get recorded in the Clerk and Recorder’s office.  If you need help researching your property, visit with the ladies in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office.
   
• Bureau of Land Management and Government Land Office records: Resource for researching the original government land surveys and land patents.
